After many talks back and forth I decided to book with Garvey Bros. for my lion hunt. Now that it is all over with I can look back and say that it was one of the best choices I ever made. The food was excellent and plentiful, even on the late nights coming out of the woods. Weather wise when I was there, things weren’t the best. We kept losing snow a little each day. But despite getting a cold and several disappointing days, we finally got a mountain lion. I cannot say enough about how hard Stan and everyone worked especially the dogs. Thanks Stan and Doylene for a great hunt and a great time.

My first hunt with Garvey Bros. Outfitters was 1987, the third year they were in business.  I killed a nice mulie the first year.  I have had numerous hunts and I have been successful all years except one, and that was my choice not to kill.  The 2006 hunt I killed a nice mule deer and in 2007 I killed a 340 class bull.  I would recommend Garvey Bros. Outfitters to anyone looking for a good honest hunt.  The accommodations and hospitality is First Class as far as I am concerned.  They hunt you at your own pace.  Your opportunity to kill a trophy mule deer or elk is very possible in this area.

I have been on a few trips in my 69 years of existence both fishing and hunting. From Maine to Alaska to Colorado but none of those were as satisfying as any of the 10 or so hunts I’ve been on with the Garvey’s. Stan and Doylene you’re the best and I value the hunts with you as one of my fondest life experiences.

I have been able to hunt most of the western states including Alaska but those hunts have not equaled the hunting experiences that I have had with Garvey Brothers Outfitters. During September 2006, I had the good fortune of doing a Muzzleloader Elk hunt with Stan Garvey and his brother Joe. My Dad came along on this hunt as a non-hunter and we just had an incredible hunting experience. I saw 12 good bulls in just the first day and a half before putting my tag on a nice 6 point bull. The actual hunt was only part of the experience. The fun and camaraderie around the camp site along with Doylene's fantastic cooking made for a very memorable trip. So much so that the following year I did a Mountain Lion hunt with Stan. This was another fantastic hunt that concluded with the taking of a huge tom Lion. I was most impressed with the effort that Stan and his guides put into the hunt. Stan mustered as much help as possible in the effort to cut a lion track. After cutting a big fresh track then the real excitement began. The thrill of taking that lion tops any other hunt that I have had. My 2 brothers and I have another Elk hunt booked with Stan for 2008. I also hope to tag along with a buddy on another Lion hunt with Stan. Once you taste that excitement it is very addictive and you have to do it again.
