YOUR ONCE IN A LIFETIME HUNTING EXPERIENCE

Anyone who has ever hunted Colorado knows that southwest Colorado has some of the best genetics for big game hunting, especially in Unit 61. With the way the point system works now your unit 61 hunt has turned in a once and a lifetime opportunity. We are a second generation, family run outfitting business specializing in Unit 61 exclusively.

ABOUT YOUR HUNT. . .

Our earlier hunts take place on the Uncompagre Plateau. This camp is a temporary camp set up on the national forest land at approximately 9000ft in elevation. As the weather cools off and the animals start to migrate down towards their winter grounds, we move down with them onto private property where we have several cabins to run our operation.

Although this is a limited draw area with numerous animals in the area, it is still a hunt with no guarantees. Our family and guides will give you 110% everyday. We tailor the hunt to your own physical ability using the “spot and stalk” method of hunting. We try to avoid roads and hunt in the more remote areas of the unit utilizing horses to help pack the animal out after a successful hunt.

DEADLINE FOR DRAWING IS EARLY APRIL

To apply for the draw go to www.cpw.state.co.us

It takes 10 or more points to draw a deer tag and 20 or more points to draw an Elk tag in Unit 61. The more points you have the more likely you are to draw your tag. To find the exact number of points you need go to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife website and search preference points under Hunting Statistics.

TESTIMONIALS

“My family continues to have fond memories of our many hunting experiences with the Garvey family over the years. I have had the opportunity to hunt with several other guides and Stan is the standard by which all have been measured……..and the rest come up a little short. The only thing better is Doylene’s cooking. You might walk a few pounds off and she puts it right back on. My two sons are now in their twenties, accumulating points, and we’re looking forward to a mule deer hunt in the future. I highly recommend Garvey Brothers’ Outfitters and would be happy to talk with anyone interested in hunting with them.”

Stan Junkin

“Stan is truly a guide’s guide.  He knows every inch of the area he hunts and his experience keeps the hunter in a positive state of mind knowing the cat will eventually be treed.”

John Banbury

“After many talks back and forth I decided to book with Garvey Bros. for my lion hunt. Now that it is all over with I can look back and say that it was one of the best choices I ever made. The food was excellent and plentiful, even on the late nights coming out of the woods. Weather wise when I was there, things weren’t the best. We kept losing snow a little each day. But despite getting a cold and several disappointing days, we finally got a mountain lion. I cannot say enough about how hard Stan and everyone worked especially the dogs. Thanks Stan and Doylene for a great hunt and a great time.”

Ted Rauh

“My first hunt with Garvey Bros. Outfitters was 1987, the third year they were in business.  I killed a nice mulie the first year.  I have had numerous hunts and I have been successful all years except one, and that was my choice not to kill.  The 2006 hunt I killed a nice mule deer and in 2007 I killed a 340 class bull.  I would recommend Garvey Bros. Outfitters to anyone looking for a good honest hunt.  The accommodations and hospitality is First Class as far as I am concerned.  They hunt you at your own pace.  Your opportunity to kill a trophy mule deer or elk is very possible in this area.”

“I have been on a few trips in my 69 years of existence both fishing and hunting. From Maine to Alaska to Colorado but none of those were as satisfying as any of the 10 or so hunts I’ve been on with the Garvey’s. Stan and Doylene you’re the best and I value the hunts with you as one of my fondest life experiences.”
