Archery
Archery hunts are primarily for elk.
Deer may be hunted as a bonus.
Unit 61 deer and elk license are by draw only. Deadline for the draw is early April.
We cover as much ground as possible, bulging regularly, hoping to get a bull to answer. When an elk is located, we attempt to call it closer; if this doesn't work, we carefully stalk him.
The season runs from late August to late September. Camps are usually no more than 4 hunters, usually just your group.
Archery elk takes at least 16 points to draw. Deer are taking at least 6 points to draw a license. Landowner vouchers are available for an additional fee but are limited.
