 Hunting at Garvey Brothers Outfitters for 2009

LION
We had 7 hunters and harvested 5 lions. Our lion hunts for the 2010/2011 have one opening left.  Also, we are booking for 2011/2012 lion hunts. 

ELK
We were 16 out 16 for bulls this year, 2 were taken in archery season, 1 nice bull in muzzleloading season.   There were 13 nice bulls taken in the Rifle seasons.  14 of the 16 bulls this year averaged 302.  This area has many bulls left and we look for the 2010 Season to be a good one.    For the 2010 elk seasons we have openings.

DEER
We were 18 out of 20 deer with 100% opportunity.   18 that were harvested had an average of 178.  Deer hunting has been what everyone wants to hunt right now.  Our deer hunting has become one of the best places in Colorado to hunt.  2010 is booked solid and we are already filling up for 2011.  If you think this is the hunt you want, please book now.  

Once again this year was a good one for us.  The point system is still growing it seems, it is going to take a minimum of 13 points for elk and 7 for deer depending on your season that you want.  Hunting Fool is featuring two of our deer hunts this year for their drawings. 

Since our archery/muzzleloading season was light this year, Stan and Joe had an opportunity to go Moose hunting in Alaska.  They had so much fun and were really glad that they got to go.  Stan got a 67” Moose, he was so thrilled.  I have no idea where these horns are going to go.  They weigh 60#’s just the horns!!   What a great time for the two of them. 

NEXT YEAR
The points look like this for the next year:
ELK - min of 13 points for archery, min of 16 points for muzzleloading, 1st rifle min of 13, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th min of 12 points to draw.
DEER - rifle 2nd season min of 8 points, 3rd season min of 8 points and the 4th min of 14 points. Keep applying if you want to come out.
