News From Camp
Once again we had another good year for Garvey Bros. Outfitters. We started hunting lions in December of 2006 since the season started earlier. Stan had 8 lion hunters in 2006/07, we still have one more to go for this year, but we have been 100%. This December we have gotten some weather and that has really helped our hunting. Archery season we had 2 hunters with 1 5 x 6 282 class elk and a 100% shooting. Muzzle loading was 2 for 2, 1-6x6 that scored 327 and 1-6x7 at 290. Rifle Elk was 16 for 16: 2-7x7's, 1- 7x6, 11- 6x6's, 2- 5x6. Average elk was 294 for all 16 bulls. Rifle Deer 11 for 12 : all were at least 5x 5's a few with cheaters 2 were over 30" one scoring 202 and the other 191. Our average for the bucks this year was 169. The third season proved to be some hard hunting with very usually high temperatures and the deer just were not out. There were many, many good bucks left behind. Of course, they have since been around and have us really excited for the 2008 seasons.
