News From Camp

Once again the Garvey camp made it through another incredible year. What fun we have had and a great group of people to share the hunting experiences with.

LION
Our lion hunting went as perfect as you could ask. We had lots of snow and never filled the quota up. We had a total of 6 for 6 lions from Dec 07- Jan 08. 4 of those lions were really big Tom’s. Stan is currently hunting for lions and is filled up for this 08/09 year. If you are interested in hunting lions it is not a bad idea to book now for the 08/09 hunts, the unit that has been under a study will be open and the hunting should just be that much better. After catching #27 around 10 times Stan would like nothing better than have someone have him as their trophy.

ELK
Archery elk, we had got 3 out of 4. Muzzleloading elk we had 3 out of 3. Rifle elk we had 13 for 13 bulls with the average score being 299, biggest a 340 smallest a 260. 11 of those bulls were over 300.

DEER
Rifle deer we had 14 out of 14 the average score 175, biggest being 214 ½, 7 of those bucks were over 180. Many of our camps were families and we really enjoyed being a part of some really fun memories.

Stan finally got to go hunting for himself and got a nice bull. It was a very hard pack out job, but he is thrilled.

March 17th we had an addition to the Garvey Family. Dustin and Heather had a little boy named Austin Patrick. Things will never be the same around here again. Having a little one around is so much fun and a delight for all of us.

NEXT YEAR
The points look like this for the next year:
ELK - min of 13 points for archery, min of 16 points for muzzleloading, 1st rifle min of 13, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th min of 12 points to draw.
DEER - rifle 2nd season min of 8 points, 3rd season min of 8 points and the 4th min of 14 points. Keep applying if you want to come out.
